MigrationWiz, ShareGate, Quest, and Accred Migrate compared

For a production tenant-to-tenant migration today, MigrationWiz (SaaS, per user), ShareGate (desktop app, flat yearly price), and Quest On Demand Migration (SaaS, per source account) are the established choices; Microsoft’s own tools cover mailboxes and OneDrive with PowerShell. Accred Migrate is a client-organized planning and run workspace priced per migrated object, but it is in early access and is not certified. Its support matrix marks each item as tested live between Accred test tenants or tested with recorded data.

How to read this comparison

Accred Migrate is in early access and is not certified, so it is not yet a like-for-like replacement for the tools below. Its support matrix marks each item as tested live between Accred test tenants or tested with recorded data. Competitor facts come from each vendor’s public pages and Microsoft Learn, checked on October 27, 2026; prices change, so confirm them with the vendor.

At a glance

How the pricing models differ

  • MigrationWiz prices per user or per object. The Tenant Migration Bundle has unlimited data except Teams and shared document migration, which are each capped at 100 GB, and licenses are valid for 12 months.
  • ShareGate charges a flat yearly price by the number of workstations running migrations, with unlimited data. Its FAQ says a consultant or MSP needs a separate license for each unrelated client project.
  • Quest licenses by the number of unique source accounts a migration task processes; shared, resource, and group mailboxes do not consume a license.
  • Microsoft requires a Cross Tenant User Data Migration license for each migrated user, assigned to the source or target user; migrations fail without it. Cross-tenant SharePoint licenses are sold per 100 GB to Enterprise Agreement customers.
  • Accred Migrate charges per migrated object, once per object, with no seats: every member of the organization can open it. There are no data caps: a 500 GB team uses one license, like a small mailbox. Scans, prechecks, and validation never use a license, and programs above 500 objects get volume pricing.

What Microsoft’s native tools leave out

  • Cross-tenant mailbox migration moves user-visible mailbox content and blocks mailboxes on hold; it does not move Microsoft 365 Groups or Teams chat folder content.
  • Cross-tenant OneDrive and SharePoint moves cannot run incremental or delta passes.
  • The migration orchestrator moves content, not identities, and does not move Teams channels or SharePoint sites.
  • There is no partner console, wave planner, or multi-client workspace: each move is run by a tenant administrator.

Which to choose

  • Choose MigrationWiz when you want SaaS with published per-user pricing and broad workload coverage.
  • Choose ShareGate when one organization runs many SharePoint and Teams moves and a flat yearly price is cheaper than per-user licensing.
  • Choose Quest when you need wider scope such as Power BI and Power Platform, or directory and domain coexistence.
  • Choose Microsoft’s native tools for straightforward mailbox and OneDrive moves when your team is comfortable with PowerShell.
  • Consider Accred Migrate when you run migrations for many clients and want each one organized by client, tenant, wave, and workload, with per-object pricing. Treat it as early access: it is not certified, and items marked coming soon are not available for customer migrations.

If you would rather hand the project off, Accred Consulting runs tenant-to-tenant migrations with whichever tool fits.

Questions

How much does MigrationWiz cost?

BitTitan lists $14 per user for a mailbox migration, $17.50 per user for the User Migration Bundle, and $57 per user for the Tenant Migration Bundle, as published on October 27, 2026.

Does Microsoft have a free tenant-to-tenant migration tool?

Microsoft’s cross-tenant tools are run with PowerShell, but each migrated user needs a Cross Tenant User Data Migration license, and migrations fail without it.

Is Accred Migrate a MigrationWiz alternative?
